Can You Etch-A-Sketch?

January 30th, 2009 by Nicki

There are a ton of great art pieces showcasing our new President. None quite like this one, though.  This artist (George Vlosich) uses one of our favorite childhood games – the Etch-A-Sketch – to create gorgeous, er, sketches.

Here’s the article and more of Vlosich’s Etches.

Good thing nobody bumped him while working on this.

    Too bad it’s fake.
You can’t have multiple shadings with an etch-a-sketch.

DAneil is correct, this is a fake. Another think you cannot do with the Etch A Sketch is move the stylus from its position without making a stroke. The letters in the Great Seal cannot be made without being visibly connected to the circles around them. That is a major giveaway. The multiple shadings can be done by going over the appropriate lines twice or three times, but separate objects cannot be drawn without a line that connects them.
