N is Here

Friday, August 15th, 2008 by Rich

For you Stephen King fans out there, and you graphic novel fans, you should check out N is Here, an “original video series” which appears to be an adaptation of a graphic novel which is an excerpt from an upcoming King novel. Which perhaps is based on the Broadway musical that was based on the original movie which came from the non-musical off-Broadway play. Adapted from the Shakespearean play, Taming of the Shrew, or the movie Dial N for Nurder.

There are things I barely understand that make me laugh. This is one of them.

Assassin’s Creed

Monday, April 21st, 2008 by Rich

I just finished Assassin’s Creed last night. Not sure what all the bitching was about. This game featured great graphics, great voice acting, and a much better than average story.

Yes, the random things people in the crowd did get repetitive–you would think that for the 36 villagers I saved, they would have more than 4 standard responses–”my sons will hear of your bravery!” And, the tasks you perform can get repetitive as well. Save a villager, pick a pocket, hide in some hay, eavesdrop, beat the crap out of someone.

Still, the utter joy of leaping from rooftop to rooftop, scrambling up walls and sneaking up on rooftop guards (and gutting them) never got old. Nor did the free fall jumps from the towers into the ominipotent piles of hay. I, for one, will be looking forward to the sequel.

Scotch Mist

Thursday, March 27th, 2008 by Jonathan

Following the untraditional release of their latest record IN RAINBOWS, Radiohead released a live studio film of the entire album under the title ‘Scotch Mist’ onto YouTube. If you haven’t had a chance, check it out. It makes a great background music, and is arguably just as good as the album itself.

Just saw this ad while watching the Duke/WVU game this afternoon. Brought me right back to sophomore year in college when the Spy Hunter game was in the lobby of our dorm. Good times….

Night OwlHere he is in all his splendour…….

As you can see it’s far from the glamorous suit Night Owl is wearing in Rich’s post. Nice Utility belt though.

How about this guy? Now that’s more like it! Nice bag.

The Watchmen Movie…Whatever

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 by Rich

Watchmen Comic Book CoverI’ve recently lent my Watchmen graphic novel to Andy as we’ve been trading reading material of late.

Nite OwlHe sent me a link to a blog about the upcoming Watchmen movie. The blog got me wondering why every superhero movie has to have costumes with armor that shows ripped abs and overly developed muscles. The epitome (or is it nadir?) of this was the nipple-enhanced Bat Suit in the crappiest of the early crappy Batman movies.

I mean, look at Nite Owl here. I’m not sure what his story will be in the movie, but in the comics he’s a retired super with a pot belly. I don’t see any pot belly in this photo, do you?

Anyway, the blog mentions that the movie will be released on 03.09.09. As I said to Andy, I’ll believe it when I walk out of the theater complaining about how they got all the characters wrong and how it should have been a mini-series on TV.

“There Will Be Blood”

Monday, January 28th, 2008 by Jonathan

Amazing!! 5 stars!!

There Will Be Blood (Movie)

I found myself high above the floor in the stadium seats of Westbrook’s Cinemagic theater for the first time the other night. The comfy seats, high-definition digital screen, and Dolby-whatever sound was magical! Cinemagical!! As those who know me would tell you, I’m not really that big on movies or television. Unless it’s a really organic documentary, I have trouble seeing anything more than a bunch of actors standing around on a sound stage. Due to some recent “adjustments” in my domestic routine, I find myself going on a lot more dates recently, hence my trip to Cinemagic. I’ve watched more movies in the last 4 months than I have in the last 4 years! I’ll usually just sit there grinning and bearing the experience, but within two minutes of “There Will Be Blood“, I was mesmorized! Perhaps it was the big damn screen, or that intense surround sound, or maybe the brilliant landscapes of the film, but I suddenly found myself standing out there on the dusty hills of turn-of-the-century New Mexico. For the next 158 minutes, I rode the edge of my seat, totally emersed in the ever-thickening plot of the film.

I won’t try to summarize the movie, but I will say that “There Will Be Blood” is suddenly on my very exclusive top-10 movies list! Check it out!
